Privacy Policy
Last updated · July 2026This Privacy Policy for 15442117 Canada Inc. (doing business as Make It Use It) (“we”, “us”) describes how and why we collect, store, use and share (“process”) your information when you use makeituseit.com and our related services (the “Services”). If you do not agree with our practices, please do not use the Services. Questions? Email [email protected].
1. What information we collect
Information you provide. The personal information we collect depends on how you use the Services and may include:
- Your email address — how you sign in. Sign-in is passwordless, so we never collect or store a password.
- Profile details you choose to add: display name, bio and avatar.
- Creator content: the plans you draft and publish, including text, materials, tools, photos and files.
- Purchase and billing details needed to complete a sale. Card numbers are entered with our payment processor and never reach our servers.
- Anything you send us through the contact form or by email.
Information collected automatically. When you visit the Services we automatically collect usage and device data — pages viewed, actions taken, approximate location, browser and device type, and operational logs. For plan view and share counts we use a salted, one-way hash rather than storing your raw IP address alongside your activity. We collect some of this through cookies and similar technologies.
2. How we use your information
- Create and manage your account, and authenticate sign-in.
- Provide, operate and improve the Services — your library, studio, and the plans you buy or publish.
- Send transactional messages you have asked for: sign-in codes, receipts and replies. We do not send marketing without your explicit opt-in.
- Process payments and pay creators their share of sales.
- Keep the platform safe — preventing fraud, abuse and bots, and enforcing our terms.
- Understand usage in aggregate so we can improve, and comply with legal obligations.
3. Legal bases (EU, UK & Canada)
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we process personal information under one or more of these bases: your consent (which you may withdraw at any time), performance of our contract with you, our legitimate interests (kept in balance with your rights), and compliance with legal obligations. If you are in Canada, we rely on your express or implied consent, except in the limited cases permitted by applicable law.
4. When and with whom we share information
We share information only as needed to run the Services:
- Payment processing — Stripe processes card payments and payouts under its own terms and security.
- Email delivery — Resend sends our sign-in codes, receipts and replies.
- Hosting & infrastructure — Microsoft Azure hosts our application and database.
- Bot protection — Cloudflare Turnstile helps verify submissions come from people.
- Other users — content you make public (such as a published plan or creator profile) is visible to others. Creators see aggregate sales, never buyer identities without consent.
- Legal & safety — to comply with law, enforce our terms, or protect the rights and safety of our users and the public.
- Business transfers — in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, your information may be transferred; we will notify you of any change in control of your data.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not run third-party advertising trackers on signed-in pages.
5. Cookies, analytics & tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies that are strictly necessary to run the Services — keeping you signed in, remembering preferences, and protecting against fraud and abuse. On our public pages we also use privacy-respecting product analytics (Google Analytics via Google Tag Manager, and Microsoft Clarity) to understand usage in aggregate. You can control cookies through your browser settings; blocking strictly-necessary cookies may stop parts of the site from working.
6. AI-based features
Our PDF importer uses an artificial-intelligence model (provided by Microsoft Azure OpenAI) to extract a plan’s structure from a PDF you choose to import into a draft you review. We send only the file you choose to import, and the output is handled under this policy.
7. International transfers
Our application and database are hosted in Canada (Azure Canada Central). Some processors — including email delivery and payment processing — operate in the United States and handle data under their own data-protection agreements. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.
8. How long we keep it
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described here. When you delete your account we remove your personal data promptly and, in any case, retain no personal data beyond six (6) months after account termination — except where we must keep certain records (for example, transaction records) to meet legal, tax or accounting obligations.
9. Children
The Services are not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Your privacy rights
You can view and update your profile, export your data, and delete your account from Settings at any time. Depending on where you live — including the EU, UK, Switzerland, Canada and certain US states — you may also have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data; to object to or restrict certain processing; to data portability; to withdraw consent; and to opt out of marketing. To make a request, email [email protected]; we respond within the time required by applicable law. EU/UK residents may also complain to their supervisory authority.
11. Do-Not-Track
Because no common industry standard for Do-Not-Track (“DNT”) signals has been finalized, we do not currently respond to DNT browser signals. If a standard is adopted, we will update this policy.
12. Updates & contact
We may update this policy as the Services evolve; material changes will be dated above and, where appropriate, notified. Questions, or to review, update or delete your data, email [email protected] or reach us from the contact page.
